Oregon Wine A-List Awards (formerly known as the Superior Cellar Awards) honor restaurants and restaurant professionals that demonstrate outstanding commitment to advocating and celebrating the quality and diversity of Oregon wines. The goal of the program is to help consumers find restaurants, both in state and outside of Oregon, that promote and feature the wines of Oregon on their wine lists and in concert with their menus and cuisine. In 1996, the Czarnecki Family converted what had been an abandoned home for over 20 years into the fine-dining restaurant it is today. The Kitchen Wing was added, heat at AC were installed, electrical wiring was upgraded, and the entire building’s foundation was replaced. In the central stair hall, the banister of the straight flight of steps to the second story is composed of a hand rail and new post unsupported by turned balusters.
It is unclear whether this unusual feature is the result of remodeling, or whether it is the way it was used by Palmer. Many details about the history of the house are yet to be assembled with the help of former owners. Remodeling episodes following Palmer’s death in 1881 appear to include the refinishing of rooms in the Queen Anne/Eastlake tradition.

The first building and Palmer's home was a hotel in the center of the newly platted area. He kept it for a few years, but then built Palmer House near the town's outskirts in 1852 or 1857.[5][8][9][10] The house has survived several floods and at least one major fire. Shortly after arriving in the Oregon Country in 1845, Palmer filed a donation land claim for himself in the Corvallis area, and one for his brother-in-law in the Dayton area. Palmer returned to Indiana for his family and came to Oregon again in 1847, to find that his land claim had been jumped. His brother-in-law decided not to return to Oregon, so Palmer settled that claim instead, located about six miles (10 km) south of Dayton.
The original section became the rear ell, or wing, when a two-story, end-gabled section in the Classical Revival style was added to it in the 1860s. The original front entrance, with its distinctive classical framement and multi-pane sidelights, remains largely intact today.
